The European Young Chemists' Network (EYCN) is a division of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS) and represents the interests of all young chemists in Europe under the age of 35. Their diverse teams have young representatives from 28 countries who aim to:

  • Create an exchange platform for university and industry
  • Bring chemistry closer to a wider audience
  • Support young chemists at the early stage of their career

Visit EYCN's homepage for more information.

Our JCF delegates in the EYCN

Fabian Heck

Fabian is a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart and works on the design and synthesis of covalent organic frameworks for electrocatalysis. In the beginning of 2022, Fabian joined the JCF as a representative for the EYCN and became a part of the Networks Team. Through the work in the Networks Team, he tries to increase the impact of the EYCN and helps to identify and create networking opportunities for young chemists across europe. More importantly, he sees his role as a representative of the JCF in bringing the EYCN and the JCF closer together and optimizing the exchange of information.

Monja Schilling

Monja Schilling is a PhD student at the Helmholtz Institute Ulm (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology). She investigates electrode materials for vanadium redox flow batteries, a technology for large-scale energy storage. Since August 2021, Monja leads to JCF Team Science & Education, which developed the chemistry escape game ChemEscape for high school students. Additionally, she is a member in the Science Team of EYCN and one of the German delegates. In September 2022, she was elected to the JCF national board and is responsible for the international relations since then.

Additional JCF representatives in the EYCN

Carl Schneider

Currently, Carl is pursuing a Master's degree in Biochemistry at the University of Greifswald. There, he conducted his bachelor's thesis on the topic of in situ monitoring of electroactive biofilms in the field of electrobiochemistry, and he is also working as a student assistant in electrocatalysis. Since August 2023, he has been serving as a representative of the JCF (JungChemikerForum) in the EYCN and is actively involved in the "Science" team, focusing on science communication. In addition to his role as an EYCN representative, he also serves as the deputy spokesperson of the JCF Greifswald.

Lysander Wagner

Lysander is a graduate student and Kekulé fellow at Justus-Liebig University in Giessen, Germany, focusing on the electrocatalyic water splitting reaction. After several activities in the German Young Chemists' Network, Lysander is now a newcomer in the Networking Team of the European Young Chemists' Network. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends, travelling, playing ukulele, and making nice coffee.

Chemistry Across Europe

You are planning a stay abroad during you studies, PhD, or as a PostDoc? EYCN gathered and provides information on all relevant topics for studying and working abroad. Check out their interactive map! You can find further information about this project on EYCN's website
